about

Yesterday I participated in a "telepathic" session with members of the uni.Sol crew distributed internationally. The real core of yesterday evening’s music-making (which went on for about 3-4 hours in fits and starts in all sorts of directions) was an hour improvising 19 discrete tracks on a Keith McMillen K-Board connected to two of my absolute favorite software synths: AALTO and KAIVO by the brilliant MADRONA LABS in California. Working with patches I have played with the past few months and feel pretty comfortable with, I got deeply immersed for an hour.

That went on until late and as soon as I got up this morning, I gravitated immediately to the dense hour I had tracked in the Madrona Labs environment. When I got to going through what I had played, marking them up as to phrases and streams, I quickly arrived at a very clear plan of how the individual ideas might unfold (as a spiral, more or less) and just managed to get them enough into shape with modest mastering to be happy to share them. Love and blessings to all in these stressful times.

Many thanks to MADRONA LABS for the beautiful West-Coast software. In addition to the two synths I mentioned, I also used their AALTOVERB in mixing, so everything you hear here, for better or worse, is made exclusively with their products, hence the name of the album.
